Australia’s Renascor Resources said on Wednesday it signed an agreement with Japanese anode material manufacturer Mitsubishi Chemical to supply graphite products from its Siviour graphite and battery anode material (BAM) project.

Under the agreement, the parties agreed to undertake further validation testwork on Renascor’s graphite products and advance talks to determine potential supply terms and a commercial partnership, Renascor said in a statement. Read More.

The SA Power Networks has been commissioned to upgrade the existing electrical infrastructure to permit the proposed mine and concentrator to connect with the electricity grid.

In addition, the company has started tendering for Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) for front-end engineering design to permit procurement of long-lead time items relating to the processing plant and other enabling works. Read More.

One of the key raw materials in the green energy transition is graphite, but while Australia is a key producer of other battery metals such as lithium, nickel and manganese, there are no active Australian graphite mining operations.
