Renascor’s Carnding Project contains several near-surface, high-grade gold prospects (up to 16 g/t from previous drilling) in South Australia’s Central Gawler Craton, an emerging gold province.

At Carnding, Renascor is targeting shallow, high-grade gold occurrences. Within the project area, Renascor has identified multiple high priority gold targets based on shallow drilling in areas where regional gold exploration programs defined coincident geochemical and magnetic anomalies after broad-scale and subsequent infill calcrete sampling. 

The prospects remain open at shallow depths and offer drill-ready targets for Proterozoic granite-associated, near-surface, high-grade gold deposits associated with Hiltaba Suite intrusions.

Gold targets identified within the Carnding Project include the Soyuz Prospect, which is defined by coincident magnetic and gravity anomalies and multi-element soil leach sampling has identified multiple geochemical anomalies.

Initial shallow drilling at Soyuz returned anomalous to highly anomalous gold intercepts, including:

  • 7m @ 5.14g/t Au from 26m to end of hole, including 2m @ 16.42 g/t Au from 30m (SZRB006), and
  • 6m @ 4.94g/t Au from 14m (SZRC07)

As shown in the cross-section in Figures 3 and 4 below, the anomalous gold intercepts have defined a coherent zone of gold mineralization at shallow depths.

Notwithstanding weathering and oxidation, which may have caused gold leaching or enrichment, the results include several significant and anomalous gold intersections over two cross-sections separated by 100 metres.  The gold target zone remains open both at shallow depth and along-strike.

 

Other prospects

The project includes other drill-ready targets, which include large calcrete gold geochemical anomalies with coincident magnetic highs:

  • Sunshine: Limited drilling intersected quartz vein-hosted gold within Challenger host lithology
  • Mir: Anomalous surface geochemical gold in calcrete distribution covering an area of approximately 2.5km2 over intense magnetic high.

The project area also includes several untested  geochemical gold anomalies defined by broad-scale (800m x 1,600m) and subsequent infill (50m x 50m) calcrete sampling.

Project Overview

The Siviour Graphite Deposit, located in South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, is among the world’s largest reported graphite deposits with a Mineral Resource estimate of 80.6 million tonnes @ 7.9% TGC for 6.4 million tonnes of contained graphite, including higher-grade mineralisation of 30.1 million tonnes @ 10.0% TGC for 3.0 million tonnes of contained graphite. Renascor’s recently Scoping Study for Siviour suggests Siviour can produce a high-quality flake concentrate at estimated an operating cost among the lowest of reported graphite developments globally.


Project Location

The Siviour Graphite Deposit is located in South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, approximately 15km west of the coastal township Arno Bay, 120km northeast of Port Lincoln and 150km southwest of Whyalla.


The project area consists of four granted exploration licences, covering an area of approximately 1,370 km2.

 

Project economics

Renascor has completed a Scoping Study based a 20-year mine life in which the entire Life of Mine (LOM) graphite production target would be entirely included within the existing Indicated Resource of Siviour.  Based on market requirements and potential capital raising capacity, an annual production rate of 123,000 tonnes per annum was selected as the most viable scenario.

The Scoping Study is based on producing flake graphite concentrates from a proposed open pit mine and graphite production plant to be located on the project site in South Australia.  The potential to produce spherical graphite or other advanced materials through downstream processing is to be considered in further studies.

Renascor has identified the potential for large tonnage Zambian Copper Belt-style, sedimentary copper deposits with a prominent copper belt in South Australia.

 

The Marree Project is made up a large, copper-prospective ground position within South Australia’s Adelaide Fold Belt.  Renascor’s exploration program here is focused on identifying and drilling prospects for potentially large tonnage Zambian Copper Belt-style, sedimentary copper deposits. 

The sedimentary sequences of the Adelaide Fold Belt have long been recognised as distinctly analogous to the copper-rich Zambian Copper Belt, offering prospects for large tonnage sedimentary copper deposits.  In the 1970s and early 1980s, some significant exploration programs adopted the Zambian-style sedimentary copper model within Renascor’s current project area, resulting in intersections of significant ore-grade copper in areas identified from detailed geological mapping and geochemical targeting. (See Figure 2.) 

Renascor’s review of historical exploration in the project area has resulted in the identification of a new copper prospect, Callanna, located within an area of historical drilling on the northwest margin of exposed Adelaidean rocks.  In addition, Renascor identified two prospective sedimentary copper target zones where sediments are inferred to exist beneath shallow cover and hence, amenable to EM surveying. Ground sampling undertaken during the reporting period focused on historical copper occurrences at the Callanna prospect.  Results included strongly anomalous gold values (maximum 2.6 g/T gold) associated with oxide copper mineralisation.  A single hand-picked sample from a small working approximately 3 kilometres north of the main Callanna prospect area returned 27% copper and 0.4 g/t gold with strongly anomalous rare earths and molybdenum, suggesting a possible granitic intrusive association.

Renascor has identified strong IOCGU targets parallel to inferred margin of intrusive Hiltaba granites as well as epithermal silver targets from soil geochemistry.

 

 

Renascor’s Gairdner Project, which is located in South Australia’s Gawler Craton, southwest of the Olympic Dam IOCGU deposit (see Figure 1), consists of Renascor’s 100%-owned EL 4675 and EL 4836.

IOCG targets.  Renascor has completed a ground magnetic survey over the project area.  The survey has delineated an area of strong magnetic relief (shown in white in Figure 4) parallel to the inferred margin of intrusive Hiltaba granites.  This area of strong magnetics has not been tested previously, as earlier drilling in the area (DH-KK05R01) was sited on gravity, with significantly lower magnetic response.  Historical rock chip sampling in the area indicates possible granite hornfels or skarn style base metal/silver anomalism to the northeast of the magnetic trend and significant nickel, cobalt and copper anomalism associated with a magnetic mafic intrusive to the northwest.  The geologic environment of the Gairdner Project, coupled with the strong magnetic anomaly, provides important similarities between Gairdner and the Earnest Henry IOCGU deposit in Queensland.

Epithermal silver targets.  Recent soil geochemistry has resulted in the identification of several epithermal silver targets at the the Gairdner Project in extensive areas of inferred Lower Gawler Range Volcanics. (See Figure 2.) Renascor considers the Gairdner project area to be a favourable setting for epithermal silver deposits similar to Investigator Resources’ recent Paris discovery, in a comparable geological setting on the southern margin of the Gawler Range Volcanic outcrop area. Renascor recently completed a program of extensive multi-element geochemical sampling over areas of interpreted Lower Gawler Range Volcanics within Renascor’s Gairdner Project.  One thousand, two hundred samples were taken at 300 metre intervals and delivered to Australia Laboratory Services (ALS) for multi-element testing.  To date, assay results from 828 samples, covering southern portions of EL 4836 and northern portions of EL 4675, have been received. (See Figure 2.)

Results to date.  The results received to date cover an area of inferred Lower Gawler Range Volcanics, to the north of the “Border” aeromagnetic anomaly, where aeromagnetic data suggests an intersection of strong north-west and north-east faults. Silver results for this local area (Summarised in Figure 3 – Silver results from Gairdner, compared to Investigator Resources’ results for Paris Prospect.) include silver peak values of 150 to 330 parts per billion (ppb) in five discrete zones of +50 ppb silver, over areas of up to approximately 2.5 km2. The most northern anomaly extends over a length of over 1,500 metres at +50 ppb silver, with adjacent 300 metre spaced samples returning 260 to 270 ppb silver. While additional, closer-spaced sampling will be required to ascertain the extent of the anomalous areas, their inferred extent at 50 ppb silver is comparable to that observed at Investigator’s Paris project from samples taken at 50 metre intervals.

Next steps.  Renascor intends to perform closer-spaced, infill sampling over the most prospective anomalous zones identified in the soil assays received to date, as well as any additional anomalous zones identified in assays. Subsequently, Renascor expects to drill in the project area, in which magnetic targets prospective for iron-oxide, copper-gold (IOCG) deposits have already been identified. Silver or base metal targets identified from soil sampling programs are expected to be included in this drill program.

Exploration at Cutana is targeting gold as extensions into Renascor’s project area of regional structures interpreted to control the localisation and mineralisation of the nearby White Dam gold mine.

 

The Cutana Project covers an area of 282 km2 in the Olary region, about 350 km north-east of Adelaide. and within approximately five kilometres of the White Dam gold mine operated by GBM Resources (ASX:GBM). See Figure 1.

Exploration at the Cutana Project is targeting gold and associated mineralisation similar in style to the nearby White Dam gold deposit. Renascor has identified several high priority targets from a program of extensive multi-element geochemical sampling over areas of major interpreted structures in the two western blocks of EL 5585 (previously EL 4394).   See Figure 2.

In December 2011, Renascor completed initial reconnaissance drilling over a portion of these gold targets, completing 33 reverse circulation holes for a total of over 2,100 metres at 50 to 100 metre intervals. Results from this initial include elevated gold and copper levels at the partially drilled Heinrichs Prospect.

In December 2011, whilst drilling over the two western blocks of EL 5585 (previously EL 4394), Renascor completed additional multi-element geochemical sampling in the eastern block of EL 4394 and identified the Pinery Prospect, the project’s most extensive geochemical target to date. The sampling defined two elevated gold zones at the Pinery Prospect, near the eastern tenement boundary. Subsequent infill sampling of Pinery defined an elevated gold zone (greater than 5 ppb) over an area of approximately 2,000 metres by 500 metres, with maximum gold levels of 48 and 53 ppb in, respectively, the southern and northern portions of the anomaly. Renascor considers the soil gold anomaly at Pinery to compare quite favourably to soil gold levels from White Dam. See Figure 3.

The Outalpa Project covers an area of 287 km2 in the Olary region, about 25km from Renascor’s Cutana Project.

The Outalpa Project covers an area of 287 km2 in the Olary region, about 350 km north-east of Adelaide. Important mineral deposits in this area include the Radium Hill uranium mine and the recently commissioned White Dam gold mine. See Figure 1.

Renascor has performed systematic, multi-element soil sampling over limited portions of its 100%-owned Outalpa Project in northeast South Australia.  The sampling program, which was targeting uranium and copper, showed limited responses for these minerals, however, several elevated gold zones were detected.  Given the favourable results from the sampling program over the Cutana Project, which is located in a similar geologic setting within 25 kilometres of the Outalpa Project, Renascor believes the Outalpa Project could yield similarly prospective gold targets.
